CUSTOMER SERVICE SPECIALIST

Full Time / Part Time - Onsite  
(Possibility of hybrid remote after required probationary period)

Summary:

With over 60 combined years of extensive experience, Harris & Ford is a major distributor of chemicals, ingredients and related products and services.  We are looking for an experienced customer service specialist to join our team.  As a Customer Service Specialist, you will interact with our customers (both domestic and international) by addressing inquiries and resolving complaints, generally providing a higher level of customer support for a specific product or service.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

•    None

 

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

•    Process orders, and order changes/ cancellations.
•    Verify inventory levels, shipment details, delivery date confirmations and customer pricing.
•    Interacts with customers via telephone, e-mail, online chat support etc. with information on an assigned          product or service. This will also include managing and addressing concerns as needed. 
•    Ensures that appropriate actions are taken to resolve customer problems and concerns.
•    Maintains customer accounts and records of customer interaction with details of inquiries, complaints, or        comments.
•    Use this knowledge of a specific product, service, or other assigned area of expertise to answer inquiries        or to forward them to the appropriate staff.
•    Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Secondary Responsibilities:

•    Assist administrative assistant with incoming calls.
•    Assist accounts receivable with customer credit issues.
•    Provide office holiday coverage (excluding Thanksgiving and Christmas Day)

Required Skills/Abilities:

•    ERP system experience
•    Excellent communication skills including active listening.
•    Service oriented and able to resolve customer grievances.
•    Proficient computer skills with the ability to learn new software.
•    Knowledge of, or ability to learn, product service, or area of customer service specialization.

Education and experience: 

•    Associate degree with 5+ years of Customer Service experience or equivalent experience.  
•    Some experience with the product or service (Logistics and or, Chemical Distribution) always welcome,            however, not required.  

 

Physical requirements:

•    Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
